Matt plays lead guitar and occasionally bass guitar in the band. He leads several songs throughout the show such as ‘Help Me Rhonda’, ‘California Girls’ and the infamous ‘Heroes and Villains’. Matt started playing guitar at the age of 13 and always had a love for 60’s rock and roll. While Matt was in high school, he played in different bands with Connor, David, and Eric before getting accepted to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. While at Berklee, Matt studied Contemporary Writing and Production where he learned top notch arranging and productions skills that guided his ear through challenging projects and different styles of music. During the summer of 2013 Matt had the idea to start Sounds of Summer after finding 4 matching striped striped shirts in a dumpster behind a bowling alley (jk)…Actually the idea was sparked when he and David started learning a few Beach Boys songs to perform with their own band and thought “This would sound a lot better with 3 other guys!” (they settled for Connor and Eric). After graduating from Berklee in Dec 2013 he began constructing the various pieces of the show with the other 3 members in mind. Lucky for Matt it seemed like a good idea to them as well.
Matt now lives in Nashville, TN where he works as a professional musical but he loves to come back to Indiana to go bowling or sell ice cream with Sounds of Summer.
